Vitamin C has always been a HOT topic when it comes to skincare. We know it is important, but do we really understand why?
Our skin and body do not produce vitamin C naturally. However, we need it to function optimally and defend ourselves against all damaging elements.
Let’s Take a Deep Dive Into Vitamin C
Vitamin C is widely sourced from fruits and botanicals. It is important to know that not all forms of vitamin C are created equally. Choosing the correct one for your unique skin is the key to treating your concern and “squeezing” the most out of your vitamin C product. When it comes down to the formulation, we have L-Ascorbic Acid that is a water-soluble (hydrophilic) vitamin C, and we have tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate that is a fat-soluble (lipophilic) vitamin C.
However similar in properties, there is a distinct difference between the two. L-Ascorbic Acid is slightly more difficult to get in a stable form in your skin. The ingredient can be irritating and is light and heat sensitive. It is known to be a HERO form of Vitamin C and has great research behind it to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, pigment irregularities and fight free radical damage. This ingredient is typically found in serums.
Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is a fat-soluble form of vitamin C. Being lipid based, it is easier absorbed by the skin and contributes to a healthy barrier. It is also a more stable molecule so less irritating to the skin. You’ll get good antioxidant protection, brightening and anti-aging properties, using this form of vitamin C. Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is popular to use in Moisturizers.
Different Times, Different Regime
If I had to draw a hierarchy pyramid, antioxidant protection would fall in the first line of defence to achieve healthy skin.
Being botanically based, you automatically get an antioxidant property from all our ingredients. However, it really is our Advance+ Range that is the game changing when it comes to antioxidant protection.
When we look at pricing, you will pay more for a cosmeceutical product due to the quality of ingredient used within the formulation of the product: the purest grade. Don’t forget when using iS CLINICAL less is more! You only need 3-5 drops of our serums due to the potency and the product spreading far, so your product will last a long time.
iS Clinical’s Advance+ Range to the C-Rescue!
We love L-ascorbic acid. Yes, you heard me – the unstable irritating molecule is our go-to in our Advance+ (vitamin C) range!
Every year there is new research and better science available. In the 2000’s, a breakthrough in science happened and a new generation (also known as second generation) L-ascorbic acid was born. This form is a lot more stable and less irritating to the skin. It can also be combined with other HERO ingredients in the market which the old generation (first generation) L-ascorbic acid couldn’t do.
So, what does this mean?
- Higher collagen stimulation
- More pigment inhabitation
- More brightening
- Stronger antioxidant protection
- Can be used on sensitive or inflamed skin
- More nutrition to the skin
- Better stability
- The vitamin C doesn’t have to be at a low pH for penetration.
iS Clinical has encapsulated their vitamin C with a bio-identical lipid (Same is in your skin’s barrier). Due to this mechanism of action your skin recognises it and allows for better absorption. The L-ascorbic acid gets released to your cell over 3 days, ensuring continues delivery and preventing the skin to get irritated.
Which iS Clinical Vitamin C Serum is Best Suited For You?
Super Serum Advance+
I like to refer to this serum as your BTL: Brightening, Tightening and Lightening.
From the age of 25 we lose about 1% collagen each year. This means by the age of 60 years old, our bodies produce half the amount of collagen we used to make at 25. Yikes!
If you are 30 years old+, is seeking for collagen stimulation and have some sun damage, this will be a great addition to your skincare regime. Super Serum Advance+ contains 15% L-ascorbic acid and is combined with our copper tripeptide-1 growth factor making it a power anti-aging combination.
Pro-Heal Serum Advance+
This is our go-to antioxidant if there is any redness or inflammation in the skin with 15% L-ascorbic Acid, vitamin A and E.
So many people suffer from inflammatory disorders. Whether your concern is rosacea, inflamed acne, or hormonal pigmentation, this is going to be the product for you.

It can be hard to find a product for the delicate eye area that contains all the good ingredients. iS Clinical brings another innovative game changing product containing 7.5% L-ascorbic acid, making it great for anyone who wants brightening around their eyes or someone who has a bit of pigmentation around the orbital area.
